Our Commitments
This page, its policy, plans and commitments are reviewed and renewed once a year.
Human Rights
Heroic Enterprises, PBC exists to help people flourish. That work begins with respect for the dignity and rights of every person our business touches: our team, our members, our partners, and the communities we serve.
We commit to respecting internationally recognised human rights across our operations and business relationships, consistent with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the International Bill of Human Rights.
What this means in practice
- We provide equal opportunity and a workplace free from discrimination and harassment, and we do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
- We respect the voice of our team, including on decisions that affect them.
- We protect the privacy of our members and handle personal data with care.
- We consider actual and potential human rights impacts in our purchasing decisions and business relationships.
- We keep accessible channels open for anyone, inside or outside Heroic, to raise a concern safely and seek resolution.
Where we fall short, we listen, we investigate, and we act.
Climate Action Plan
Our commitment
Heroic Enterprises, PBC, exists to help 51% of humanity flourish by 2051. There is no flourishing on an unlivable planet. We support the global ambition to limit warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, and we commit to running a lean, low-carbon company that reduces the emissions our work creates.
How we operate
Heroic is a fully remote company. We have no offices, no vehicle fleet, and no manufacturing. Our products are digital: training, coaching, and educational content delivered online.
We operate a small online store that delivers physical products produced and delivered by third parties. We practice selecting organic cotton products and, where possible, regenerative and environmental options, and we offer “EcoCart” checkout options.
Our main emission sources are:
- Business travel for team gatherings, board meetings, and events. This is our largest controllable source.
- Purchased cloud, software, and media services that run our products.
- Home office electricity across our distributed team.
- Occasional printed materials for events and workshops.
Actions already in force
- Fully remote operating model.
- Virtual-first meetings. The Board began holding meetings virtually in January 2026 to reduce recurring travel.
- Asynchronous collaboration and initiatives such as monthly step challenges to incentivise a healthy and green approach to getting around outside work hours.
- Digital-first products. We deliver value without physical goods by default.
Targets
- Remain a fully remote company, allowing our team to make environmentally conscious decisions about where and how they work, and minimising our physical and environmental footprint.
- Hold in-person company gatherings at most two per year. All other company and Board meetings are virtual by default.
- By 31 December 2026, complete a first annual travel footprint review using travel expense records as the baseline measure.
- By 31 December 2027, document climate consideration in every major cloud and software vendor selection or renewal, preferring providers with public climate commitments.
Responsibilities and tracking
The Heroic Leadership Team manages and tracks our plan and commitments. Travel spend is reviewed annually. Progress is reviewed once a year at a quarterly leadership session and reported to the Board.
Responsible Lobbying and Public Policy Engagement
Our position
Heroic Enterprises, PBC does not employ lobbyists, does not retain lobbying firms, and does not make corporate political contributions. Company funds and paid time are not used for partisan political activity, and our expense policy expressly prohibits political donations on company cards.
If we engage in public policy
Should Heroic ever take a position on public policy, that engagement will follow three rules:
- Mission-aligned. We engage only on matters connected to human flourishing, education, and wellbeing.
- Transparent. We engage openly, never through undisclosed intermediaries, and we publicly describe any position we take.
- Consistent. Our positions will match our public commitments and values. We will not say one thing in public and pursue another in private.
Our team as citizens
Team members are free to vote, join political organisations, and advocate for causes in their personal capacity, on their own time, without company resources. No one at Heroic is ever compelled to support any political cause, and no one may pressure a colleague to do so.
