#1721 The Hero’s Phone #

The other day I was trading texts with a friend of mine who happens to be an elite military officer.

He told me that he recently visited his alma mater and was asked to give a talk on Resilience/Antifragility.

Apparently, he talked about the hero’s journey and all that.

He also talked about the importance of activation energy and showing up with an intensity for life.

Then…

He told me that he gave the group their new Heroic phone number. 🤓

I’ll tell you about that in a moment.

First…

Let’s set some context.

As we’ve discussed, “activation energy” is a chemistry thing.

It is, essentially, the point at which ONE thing becomes ANOTHER thing.

For example, water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit. Nothing happens when you heat water to 200 degrees or 210 degrees or even 211 degrees.

But…

Once you hit 212 degrees, that water hits its activation energy point and boils.

Same thing with fire.

If you want to ignite paper on fire, you need to hit the activation energy point of 451 degrees Fahrenheit.

400 degrees? Nothing. 450 degrees? Close but nothing.

451 degrees? Let there be fire! 🔥

THEN…

If you REALLY want to forge yourself into all that you are capable of being, you should consider going all the way up to 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit—that’s the temperature required to forge a SWORD.

Note: If all you want to “forge” is a spork, you’ll be fine at 500 degrees. 😉
