As we’ve discussed, years ago I did 1-on-1 coaching with one of my favorite authors, Steve Chandler. It was awesome.
One day, Steve and I were talking about something that was stressing me out at the time (funny how you can’t remember the details when a little time elapses, eh?) and he told me to imagine going to the gym.
Then he asked me, “Would you go there and pick up styrofoam weights?”
To which I replied: “Um. No. Not if I wanted to get strong.”
To which he replied: “Exactly.”
To which I replied: “Ahhhh… Got it.”
Moral of the story: LIFE is our gym.
THE WHOLE POINT (yes, I’m on a soapbox screaming) is to get stronger and stronger so we can actualize our potential — using our gifts in service to the world while (important detail!) enjoying the process.
Those “stressful” things? Those are our weights. Those are the opportunities for us to actually PRACTICE the stuff we talk about every day.
Anything stressing you out these days?
Let’s quit wishing things were easy. Let’s wish we were strong enough to deal with whatever life throws at us.
Then let’s get to work by asking ourselves, “What wisdom can I apply to the challenge?”
Then let’s do the reps. And get stronger.
We’ve already purchased our lifetime Heroic Gym memberships so why we might as well bang out our reps like we mean it, eh?
+1. +1. +1.
