In our last +1, we talked about building/taking a dominoes staircase to the moon.
As we discussed, dominoes provide an awesome metaphor on the power of geometric growth.
They have a process they call “Goal Setting to the Now.”
Here’s how they put it in their fantastic book The ONE Thing: “By thinking through the filter of Goal Setting to the Now, you set a future goal and then methodically drill down to what you should be doing right now. It can be a little like a Russian matryoshka doll in that your ONE Thing ‘right now’ is nested inside your ONE Thing today, which is nested inside your ONE Thing this week, which is nested inside your ONE Thing this month. . . . It’s how a small thing can actually build up to a big one. You’re lining up your dominoes.”
If you feel so inspired, here’s a quick walk through of their process.
Someday Goal: Start by thinking about the #1 most important “Someday” goal in your life. What is the ONE Thing that would be most epic to do someday?
Five-Year Goal: Based on your Someday Goal, what’s the ONE Thing you can do in the next five years?
One-Year Goal: Based on your Five-Year Goal, what’s the ONE Thing you can do this year?
One-Month Goal: Based on your One-Year Goal, what’s the ONE Thing you can do this month?
One-Week Goal: Based on your One-Month Goal, what’s the ONE Thing you can do this week?
Daily Goal: Based on your One-Week Goal, what’s the ONE Thing you can do today?
Right Now: Based on your Daily Goal, what’s the ONE Thing you can do right now?
As they say: “Connect today to all your tomorrows. It matters.”
If you feel so inspired, take some time to walk through their process with some paper and pencil and brain sweat. (And, check out our Notes/their mind-blowing book!)
For the moment, let’s assume that the ULTIMATE ONE Thing we can achieve in our lives is to high five our inner daimon more and more consistently as we live with more and more eudaimonia.
With that in mind…
What’s the ONE Thing you can do right now to make your daimon proud?
High fives from me and my daimon to you and yours!
P.S. Let’s do this!!
