#1480 Going Through Hell?

Churchill Says: Keep Going

In our last +1, we spent some more time with David Goggins and explored some more wisdom from his book Never Finished.

For those keeping track, we’ve discussed the power of belief (remember the swimming rats!), how to maximize your minimum potential (hint: activate your inner savage), and how to respond to life’s inevitable challenges (“Roger that!”).

Today we’re going to talk about what to do when you’re going through hell.

Let’s get straight to work.

Goggins tells us: “When you’re climbing a mountain or involved in any other difficult task, the only way to free yourself from the struggle is to finish it. So why bitch about it when it gets hard? Why hope it will end soon when you know it will end eventually? When you complain and your mind starts groping for the eject button, you are not bringing your best self to the task, which means you are actually prolonging the pain.”

That reminds me of Winston Churchill—whose Heroic portrait is glaring at me as I type this.

He told us: “If you’re going through hell, keep going.”

And…

That’s Today’s +1.

Are you going through hell?

Quit complaining.

And…

Keep going.

Bring your absolute best self to the task and FINISH what you started.
