#211 Chiseling Character

Another Greek Etymology Lesson

In our last +1, we spent some time with Michelangelo—seeing our heroic potential within a block of marble. Then we got out our chisel and started chipping away at the habits that are getting in the way of the best version of ourselves showing up more and more consistently.

Today, we’re going to look at what happens when we use that chisel wisely.

First, another etymology lesson.

Did you know that the word character comes from the Greek word that means “chisel” or “the mark left by a chisel.” Yep.

Imagine that. Our character is formed by a chisel.

One choice at a time. Moment to moment to moment.

We’re either chipping away at the good stuff and creating a poor character or we’re chipping away at the bad stuff and creating a noble character.

One choice at a time. Moment to moment to moment.

Today’s +1: Let’s use our chisels wisely and create a character we’re proud of.
