#1109 Hunting with Carlos Castaneda

And Some Bird Watching, Too

Yesterday we spent some time unpacking a recent little Trailpiphany on how to Operationalize OMMS. (Aka: Make some good Optimizade.)

Recall the 1-2 + 1, 2, 3 of the v1 Heroic Antifragile Protocol:

1. Wisdom: THIS is what we train for!
2. Self-Mastery: PRACTICE your philosophy.

1. Be Grateful: What’s AWESOME right now?
2. Be Hopeful: See how you’re going to get stronger. Know you can crush it. Get ready to…
3. Be Zesty: via disciplined ACTION.

Today we’re heading back out to the Trail.

This time we’re going to do some bird watching.

No binoculars needed.

See that beautiful bird up there?

Yep. Kinda looks like that emoji-guy.

Only, it’s not an eagle. It’s a red-tailed hawk.

I get to watch him (or is it her?) hunt on a daily basis.

As I watch him swoop and glide with elegant grace, I think of THIS Carlos Castaneda wisdom from The Wheel of Time (pretty much EVERY single time):

“Once a man worries, he clings to anything out of desperation; and once he clings he is bound to get exhausted or to exhaust whomever or whatever he is clinging to. A warrior-hunter, on the other hand, knows he will lure game into his traps over and over again, so he doesn’t worry.”

That bird?

He’s not worried about whether or not he’ll find his prey.

He’s just hunting.

Calmly, 100% focused on the PROCESS.

Letting the outcomes take care of themselves.

(Which might be why my Yoda says “Success doesn’t matter in this world, commitment does.“)

That’s Today’s +1.

Let’s be a little more like that red-tailed hawk.

As we gracefully swoop and glide and do our thing.

Fully engaged in the present moment.

Letting the outcomes take care of themselves.
