RULE #1
IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE CHALLENGING
Welcome to Objective II.
Now that we know the ultimate game and how to play it well, it’s time to forge some antifragile confidence.
We’ll define “antifragile” and “confidence” in a moment. Then we’ll enter the “forge” and give you a bunch of tools to get your mental toughness dialed in before giving you a ticket to invincibility.
But…
First, we need to start with Rule #1 of a good, Heroic life. Let’s put it in bold and all caps to make sure we don’t miss it…
RULE #1: IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE CHALLENGING.
I know that sounds obvious, but truly getting this can change your life.
In fact, the story you might be telling yourself about why you shouldn’t have to deal with all those challenges in your life is, arguably, THE greatest obstacle to your deep, sustainable, eudaimonic happiness.
There are a bunch of ways to bring this point home.
Let’s start with this…
What’s your all-time favorite inspiring movie?
Maybe Star Wars? Or Harry Potter? Or perhaps The Matrix, Black Panther, or The Shawshank Redemption?
Or maybe it’s The Hunger Games, The Wizard of Oz, Apollo 13, or Schindler’s List?
What’s the ONE thing your favorite inspiring movie and all those other inspiring movies have in common?
Quite simply…
All those movies feature a hero who faced extraordinary challenges. If they didn’t, you would have gotten up and walked out of the movie theater. (Right?)
Well…
If you want to live a life that makes YOU feel inspired, you better learn how to get EXCITED about facing all of life’s challenges.
I repeat Rule #1 of a good, noble, Heroic life: It’s SUPPOSED to be challenging.
Period.
It’s time to learn how to embrace that fact and turn every challenge into an opportunity to activate your Heroic potential.
It’s time to forge your antifragile confidence.
