We Win or We Learn #14
How to embrace the experimental mindset.
Carol Dweck, author of Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, gave us a powerful concept: the growth mindset.
It’s the belief that your abilities aren’t fixed—you can grow, improve, and adapt through effort, learning, and resilience.
With Heroic Elite, we take this one step further: everything is data. Whether you succeed or stumble, the goal is to learn.
Dweck uses Michael Jordan as one of her exemplars and quotes him saying: “I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
The Experimental Mindset: Growth Through Action
1. Reframe Failure as Feedback: When something doesn’t work, don’t see it as failure—see it as data. Ask yourself: What can I learn from this?
2. Embrace Iteration: Every action you take is part of the process of refining your strategy. You don’t have to get it perfect on the first try—just keep improving.
3. Focus on Process, Not Perfection: Growth happens when you show up, experiment, and adjust. The only true failure is refusing to try.
4. Celebrate Learning: Even when you don’t win, you’ve gained knowledge and resilience that will serve you in the next round.
The Heroic Elite Mindset
With Heroic Elite, we believe in the power of the experimental mindset. We don’t fear failure because we know that we win or we learn.
Every missed shot is an opportunity to refine your aim. Every stumble builds the resilience you need to rise stronger. This mindset transforms obstacles into stepping stones and setbacks into momentum.
As Dweck tells us: “The view you adopt for yourself profoundly affects the way you lead your life.” Choose the growth mindset.
Win or learn. Keep going.
