We talk a lot about sleep around here.

And yes, getting deep, quality sleep is essential for a heroic life. But what about the other kind of rest? The kind you give yourself throughout the day.

Mental rest.
Physical rest.
Emotional rest.

Because sometimes, when you’re feeling burned out, unmotivated, frustrated with your lack of focus or energy, it’s not a sign that you’re lazy or undisciplined.

It’s a sign that you need REST.

Not just a break. Not just a scroll. But actual restoration.

Resting your mind by stepping away from the constant thinking, fixing, and analyzing.

Resting your body with a walk, a “napitation” (nap + meditation!), or by reading an actual physical book.

Resting your nervous system by unplugging from tech and letting yourself just be for a while. No texts, no buzzes, no new information.

I’ve found that even just a couple of hours or a single day of true, restorative time can totally reboot my energy and creativity.

Suddenly, I’m motivated again. Ideas are flowing. Everything feels lighter and more possible.

But when I ignore that tired, burned-out feeling and push through anyway?

I get stuck. Frustrated. Flat.

Rest is not weakness. It’s wisdom.

It’s a rhythm.
A reboot.
A recharge.

And in today’s culture where productivity is worshipped and screens are constant, rest takes courage.

We’ve gotta be rest warriors. Protecting our peace. Honoring our cycles. Remembering that recovery is just as important as action.

So if you’re feeling off, before you double down on doing more, ask yourself: “Do I just need to rest?”

No tech. No pressure. Just space to breathe. To reset. To restore.

Because when we rest well, we live well.

We show up stronger. Sharper. More inspired. More alive.

And I really do believe if more of us got real rest, we’d live in a very different world.

The world needs the most rested, radiant version of you.

Happy Resting!
