Maya Angelou said, “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. Don’t complain.”

That’s not just a great quote; it’s real wisdom. A mindset. A way of living.

Because let’s be honest, it’s easy to find things to complain about. The stress. The weather. The people. The noise. The weight of it all.

We all do it.

Complaining, gossiping, judging—it’s part of being human. It’s even hardwired into us. It helped us survive, connect, and stay alert.

But here’s the thing. It’s not helpful if we do it too much, especially if we really want to live a heroically awesome life.

It drains our energy. It pulls our focus toward what’s wrong. And it keeps us stuck.

So here’s a powerful shift…

What if every complaint became a cue to celebrate instead?

Not by pretending everything’s perfect, but by noticing what’s good, what’s true, what’s working.

“This house is a mess” becomes “This home is full of life”.

“I’m overwhelmed” becomes “I have meaningful things to do”.

“I’m tired” becomes “I showed up today—and that matters”.

“That person is annoying me” becomes “I appreciate and celebrate how committed they are”.

A lot of the time, we live in a 5:1 ratio—five complaints for every celebration. And, most of the time, we don’t even realize we’re doing it. It’s something we do unconsciously, something we’ve picked up from our families, our culture, and the world around us. It’s baked into our daily lives.

But here’s the good news…

We can flip it! We can choose differently. We can rewire our focus. We can shift from what’s wrong to what’s working. From criticism to celebration. From stuck and frustrated to empowered and free.

Let’s go for five celebrations for every complaint. Because what we focus on, grows. Let’s grow joy, gratitude and celebration.

So the next time a complaint shows up, pause. Notice it. And ask: “What can I celebrate right now?”

Even the tiniest thing counts.

Celebrate the breath. Celebrate the lesson. Celebrate the chance to grow.

Because when we celebrate more and complain less, we become even more magnetic and powerful.

Our Soul Force expands.

Every time we choose celebration over complaint, we are choosing to live with intention, appreciation, and love. We are choosing to live heroically.

So let’s celebrate more, and complain less. Today. 😊

Let’s do this!
