Heroes!

Michael here. 👋

Before we get into the updates, let’s revisit the questions from today’s Heroic +1.

(Theory → Practice! 🙌)

So…

Who are YOUR favorite heroes?

Why?

What qualities do they embody?

Have you reflected on that yet?

Who are two of the individuals you most admire?

They can be living or dead, people you know personally or know from afar.

Who are they? And what is it that makes them a hero in your eyes?

#1: ______________________________

Why: ____________________________

#2: ______________________________

Why: ____________________________

And…

Most importantly…

How can you embody the qualities they embodied just a little more Today?

Now let’s get to it!

1. Uncommon by Mark Divine

This week’s new Philosopher’s Note is on Uncommon by Mark Divine.

Here’s the intro quote to the Note:

“In the navy, common was what we called SOP: Standard Operating Procedure. Common is a trait shared by two or more individuals, a behavior that appears frequently, or a truth that is well known by a community. We are groomed to be common by family, trained to toe the line in school, and cajoled to conform by peers and social media.

Let’s face it, common is, well, the norm. It’s perfectly acceptable to be common. But trust me on this: it is worth it to be uncommon. There is joy and freedom like you cannot imagine once you align your thoughts with your actions to live your unique and purpose-fueled life. To be uncommon, it is critical to rewire the fragmented and limited mindset you have been trained with. An uncommon mindset is integrated and exponential in capacity. Mastering innate physical, mental, emotional, intuitional, and spiritual intelligence, or what I call the five mountains, is the key to unlock this mindset. I’ve spent over three decades mastering my five mountains, allowing me to break free from the prison of a common, predictable life. Freedom isn’t free and it takes work, but it is seriously worth it. I wrote this book to teach you how to master your five mountains so you can live an Uncommon life too.”

2. How’s your Soul Force?!

Soul Force. The ineffable and extraordinary power that is palpable in an individual who is standing in their truth—living with fierce integrity to their highest ideals.

It’s what every hero we’ve ever admired has embodied (including the two heroes you identified above!) + what each of us must be committed to personally embodying + what we must strive to help others embody in their own idiosyncratic way such that we can literally change the world.

We’ve got a measure for Soul Force in the app: Your Soul Force Score.

If you’re already at 100 or 101, great work! Keep it up. 🔥

If you’re not there yet, you can earn a +1 point today, and again tomorrow, and again tomorrow, and no matter where you are today, you can get to “Activated” within one month!

Here’s how to earn a +1 Soul Force point every day.

1 = Complete the AM Commitment process every day. (Whether tap-tap-tapping step-by-step, or using the one-tap commit.)

2 = Make sure that, by the end of the day, your TOP 3 targets in EACH of Energy, Work, and Love have been swiped as complete.

You’re able to rearrange targets, as well as “uncommit” to targets, any time you like.

So if you happened to “miss” one of the Top 3 targets that you’d committed to in the morning, just run a quick “123 Win or Learn” on it and then uncommit to the target, or move one of your other targets up, so that you end the day with your Top 3 targets hit!

Remember, where your intention goes your attention follows!

That’s why Heroic Practice begins with an AM Commitment process, and why you’re encouraged to do a PM check in, earning your point for today and setting the intention to do better tomorrow on any “missed” targets from today.

5. Additional community highlights

Check out some of our favorite posts from the week, including Steve M celebrating earning his Heroic Coach Certificate, Christine’s big takeaway from our recent Luminary session with Pilar Gerasimo, and Steve H introducing to himself (and his family!) to the Heroic Community.

Christine shared that her big takeaway was the idea of authentic investment which she defined as “genuinely believing that your wellbeing and the wellbeing of others is related intimately.”

She then went on to say:

“I think this feeling of authentic investment is why I show up here [Heroic social] daily, which is funny because I am actually otherwise an introverted, internally processing person who resisted the app for about a year after it was released. 🤣”

It’s incredible to feel the power of a community committed to helping one another be the best versions of themselves, and a platform for connecting in authentic, meaningful, flourishing ways.

Wisdom = Transformation from the inside out.

Community = Transformation from the outside in.

Let’s change the world together!
